The Music of Damien Riley: Free MP3 Files 1986 to Present

I’ve had a lot of fun recording these tunes through the years. I’m glad I am now able to present them all on this page. My hope is to regularly update this page with new songs as I record them. Before the music below is a brief creative commons license. Please take a look at it if you’d like to use my songs for commercial purposes. Thanks for listening.

A Supermarket in California 2010
I wrote this collection at age 40 and recorded it in my family room. This is my most mature writing and playing up to this point. I aimed the electric guitar amp into the fireplace and put the sm58 a bit above it. It made for a cool punchy sound.

Tumbletunes 2011
These are three short instrumental acoustic guitar songs I wrote and recorded. Silly little things really I just recorded so they wouldn’t die. You’ll never hear me play these live, they’re just too quiet and slow. But I love them on a rainy day with a good fire going.

The 63 Lipless Fish 1991-1993
From about age 21-23 I messed around in this band. It was more of a time to drink beer with friends than to really create any amazing music. I had higher hopes for the group than it was capable of (as history has told). The most memorable thing that came of it was our working with the legendary Dave Sharp on two songs: People, and Talk to Me (linked above). I sang and played lead guitar for the band.

Reso 2011The Resolution 1986-1990
My first “real band.” I met Brad, Lance, and Mike in 1986 at age 16 and we formed a band. We recorded about 20 original songs up to 1990. We played frat houses, parties, restaurants, and “band competitions.” I was lead guitarist and co-writer. We never had a hit and eventually went our separate ways after high school. I kept in touch with Brad, the drummer and leader of the project. December 26, 2011 we had a Resolution reunion. We made music and enjoyed getting reacquainted. We didn’t record any songs at the reunion. Below are the songs we recorded back in the early 80′s.
